Indeed Herod and Pontius Pilate met together with the Gentiles and the people of Israel
in this city [Jerusalem] to conspire against your holy servant Jesus..."  Acts 4:27

Question: Who Killed Jesus Christ?

Answer: A Roman X Jewish Conspiracy

The Gospels and the Book of Acts (infallible Word of God) clearly record the historical fact that Jewish religious leaders--"chief priests, the teachers of the law, and the elders of the people"-- engaged in a conspiracy plot, together with Roman government officials (Herodians), to frame and then crucify Jesus the Christ, at the hand of the local Roman Governor, Pontus Pilate.  This action was accomplished with mob (Jewish and non-Jewish) support.  Read the following:

MATTHEW - Chapters 26, 27 & 28.

MARK - Chapters 3, 12, 14 & 15.

LUKE - Chapters 22, 23, & 24.

JOHN - Chapters 18 & 19.

ACTS - Chapters 2:23, 36; 3:13-15; 4:5, 6, 10, 27; 5:17-33; etc.

The Herodians, the Jewish Pharisees, and the participating mob present at the scene--these alone share in the culpability for the crime.  Neither Jewish nor Gentiles descendents bear any culpability for the specific crime, despite of the mob's verbal reply, "Let his blood be on us and on our children!"  It is commonly believed that the Roman Catholic Church sought to extend culpability and guilt to all Jews as a race of people, clearly an erroneous view.  If true, the position was likely drawn from the cause/effect inference contained in Matthew 27:25 and quoted above, which records the emotional response of the mob to Pilate's eleventh-hour effort to expunge his own guilt for participating (v.18) in the conspiracy.  Verse 25 is an accurate, historical record of the hate-filled psychology of the mob, not a theological or legal statement regarding moral culpability, guilt, etc.

The issue of who directly killed Jesus Christ is largely irrelevant from the fundamental Christian's perspective.  Christians know and rejoice in the fact that Christ's death was foreordained by God the Father (Acts 4:28) before the foundation of the world for the redemption of all of His elect and that He, the Father, ultimately delivered Christ into wicked hands.  However, this fact of the Father's Plan does not make the "hands" any less wicked.  The truth of NT Scriptures puts the redemptive meaning of the crucifixion in clear light.
