The
Journal
The following is a list of 1998 changes to the various
related web sites or information bulletins. Most recent changes are shown first:
- 12/27/98
- We are often stunned by the widespread
lack of knowledge and misunderstanding regarding the subject of GRACE.
A majority of genuine believers are toiling under the law principle.
In hopes of offsetting a small portion of this corrupting influence, we
share some quotations taken from the venerable William R. Newell's
commentary ROMANS, Verse by Verse. See
GOD'S GRACE.
- 10/3/98
- Of late, we have begun to pray about
finding employment which would allow for me to travel less and have the
opportunity to devote more time to ministry. We would appreciate your
prayers in this matter as well. Also, we changed the background
on the Articles page and some others; so tell us what you think.
- 9/27/98
- In that there is such a sad lack of knowledge
today amongst believer's of their new-creation position in Christ, we have
added MJS's THE
NEW-CREATION CHRISTIAN.
- 9/26/98
- We have added a new link
"Letters" to the navigation bar at
the left. A number of you have indicated a desire to communicate with
other like-minded believers by having a 'virtual' community gathering area.
We will post your letters and email addresses at Letters and will work to
develop a site for meeting others who share common beliefs.
- 8/29/98
- Its been a busy summer with time off
for some vacation. As things start to wind down, it's back to
enhancing the web sites. The decision has been made by Miles
Stanford to make the complete text of his Position Papers (several hundred!)
available online. Given the magnitude of this task, we will start by
rolling out 2-3 each month. Position Papers may be linked from Miles'
web pages or a few from our Articles list.

- 6/12/98
- For decades, godly-living Christians
have been subject to discrimination in larger companies and organizations.
Rather than fight, believers have chosen to quit which has then made the
overall situation worse. Since an office gang almost succeeded in
sabotaging my career, I recently attempted to turn-the-tables on my employer
using their postmodernist push for diversity to gain a little protection in
the storm. See
Valuing Diversity and Teamwork? Feel free to modify
the letters and use in your situation if they help.
- 5/26/98
- By in large, both the unsaved as well as some
Christians are confused on the subject of forgiveness. Forgiveness is
an act based on accountability of the parties. It is not 'looking the
other way', or acting as if no wrong is or has been committed.
Forgiving is not excusing the inexcusable, or sweeping things under the
proverbial 'carpet'. Relationships crumble when they lack integrity.
Understanding the role of forgiveness is crucial if we want health
relationships. See our article:
FORGIVE & REMEMBER.
- 3/1/98
- The Articles page contain updates
regarding the Y2K issue and well as our comments on Weldon Hardenbrook's
book (see 1/31/98 entry below) continue to be added to.
- 2/1/98
- My wife and I recently had the
privilege of hearing
CHRISTOPHER PARKENING in a local recital. Mr.
Parkening is celebrated as one of the world's preeminent virtuosos of the
classical guitar. He is recognized heir to the legacy of the great
Spanish guitarist Andrés Segovia. His concert brochure reads, "At the
heart of his dedication to performance, recording, and teaching is a deep
commitment to the Christian faith." We highly recommend his musical
artistry and CDs, especially his album of hymns and works of Bach, Haydn,
and Mozart entitled SIMPLE GIFTS. From time-to-time,
folks ask about standard in music. We recommend the book GOD'S NEW
SONG, A Biblical Perspective of Music, by Leonard J. Seidel. I
not sure if the book is still in print, but is the best I've read on the
subject of music in the church.

MISSING FROM ACTION -- A Powerful Historical Response to the Crisis Among
American Men. Originally published in 1987, this revised
and expanded edition explains in depth the American tragedy -- our society's
collapse into a matriarchal order. The current scandal with the
American President and the First Lady is but a reflection of this grave
crisis. Sadly, the authors' "cure" for the problem, a return to
patriarchy via a revival of sacramental, ascetic, Eastern Orthodoxy, falls
far short of the need of the hour. We purchased several copies
of the book to share with family and select others. This
necessitated that we also share some directives. See
Our Comments.
- 1/17/98
- We hope supporters are pleased with the
new Home Page. I think we have finally settled in on a color theme.
The picture, my favorite religious art, is The Arrest of Christ
by Rembrandt. A copy of this exquisite drawing hangs in my
study. Rembrandt's ability to control light is one of the marks of his
greatness as an artist. When I first saw this piece, I was struck by
the play between the soldier (left) holding the lance and Christ.
Darkness versus Light. On Christ's right, I assume is the betrayer,
Judas; to His left is the servant of the Jewish high priest on his knees!
I hope this image will send you back to the four Gospel narratives for
another look. However, don't linger too long, if you're a believer
your residency is above. Abide Above!
