INTELLIGENT DESIGN
"For ever house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything." Heb. 3:4
Intelligent Design (ID) is a scientific theory that intelligent causes are responsible for the origin of the universe, of life, and its diversity. It holds that this inherent order (design) is empirically detectable in nature, and particularly in living systems. ID acknowledges the common sense wisdom of the first half of the above Bible verse, and suggests that scientific empirical data supports the later.
Intelligent Design is also an intellectual movement that includes a scientific research program for investigating the empirical evidence and challenging the widespread naturalistic explanations of origins which have driven (and controlled) science education and research for the past hundred years or so.
Intelligent Design does not prescribe any specific model of "intelligent" origins; however, it is compatible with theistic creationist views.

- Materialistic thinking dominated Western culture during the 20th century in large part because of the authority of science. The Center for the Renewal of Science and Culture seeks, therefore, to challenge materialism on specifically scientific grounds. Yet Center Fellows do more than critique theories that have materialistic implications.
