The Lion and the Lamb

The imagery on the front of our 2002 Christmas card is drawn from the 11th Chapter of the Book of Isaiah and depicts the peace and tranquility of the future Millennium—an "age to come" mentioned throughout the Bible.

And how are we to appreciate the oft-heard phrase "Peace on Earth, goodwill toward men" during this holiday season when conflicts and wars rage around the world—and even now on America’s own soil? Or how do we reconcile Christ’s own words, "Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth; I did not come to bring peace but a sword… and rather division" with His title of "Prince of Peace" (Isaiah 9:6; Matthew 10:34; Luke 12:51; John 18:36)?

Many fail to understand, are confused, or even become disillusioned because of their unfamiliarity with the distinction between the First and Second Advents of Jesus Christ, and the fact that we live in between these two monumental events—one being history past and the second yet future.

May you share in the comfort and hope that our Savior Jesus Christ is both the "Lamb of God" (John 1:29) and the "Lion of the tribe of Judah" (Revelation 5:5). With power, He can bring peace to your heart today and will bring peace when He reigns on earth at His appointed time…yet to come.
