THE
LORD JESUS CHRIST
His
Place as
Head of the Body
The Lord Jesus
Christ is the Last Adam, the Second Man, the Firstborn of a new race.
...He is the Head of the Body, the church; He is the beginning and the
firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything He might have
supremacy. Colossians 1:18
Figuratively, He is our Head
and we (Christians collectively) are His body on earth. Since He is
sovereign over the entire universe, it is fitting we acknowledge Him as Lord
of our personal lives.
And God
placed all things under his feet and appointed Him to be head over
everything for the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills
everything in every way. Ephesians 1:22,23
To extend the metaphor,
Christendom suffers from a spinal cord injury having lost connection with
the Head and the life of the First Adam is
primarily resident.
He [the
unspiritual minded] has lost connection with the Head [Christ Jesus], from
whom the whole Body, supported and held together by its ligaments and
sinews, grows as God causes it to grow. Colossians 2:19
But genuine believers, having
been co-resurrected and co-ascended, are privileged to set their hearts and
minds on...
...things
above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Colossians 3:1,2
