Highlights of Our Life
or... Diane's first Web Experiment

OK, it's time.  Time to venture forth, break new ground, expand my horizons, or whatever you want to call finally learning how to create my own Web page.

And what better way to start than with a project that will try all the toys and take care of some of that much dreaded correspondence.

Today I'm making my debut with the Microtek ScanMaker E3, Microsoft Image Composer and FrontPage 98 (Beta), and my faithful Gateway P5-66 which carried me "far and away."  Ooh, ahh.  I hope you enjoy my experiment.

Does this mean I'll get three cakes when I'm 60?

Here it is... the 40th birthday.

That smile is as genuine as it gets.  Though I miss the friends and family I've not seen as often or at all since I moved, still the life I have here is a great blessing from a loving God.

This is a wonderful time of my life and I joyfully look forward to new adventures and new insights in the years to come.

Here's the happy fisherman with the first two of the year.  Our area has a few small lakes which are stocked with trout for our fishing and eating pleasure.

The next stop for these two fat ones was the grill.

Cookie on the rocks.

In spite of all the busy-ness of our lives we still make a point to fit some weekend hikes into the schedule--with or without friends or dogs.

We've enjoyed all sorts of terrain and weather including a steep climb to 11,300 feet (thought we lost Cookie when she took off after a heard of elk) and last week's adventure which ended in a thundering hail storm.

But most have been in nice weather in only mildly challenging rocks and hills.

This year the Call-of-the-Wild seems so have come out in full force and rabbits are the hot item of pursuit.

Cookie enjoys nothing more than chasing and, yes, catching any poor rabbit that comes into view.

The stuffed rabbit in the picture is a frequent "companion", but a distant second to the real thing.

The HACIENDA

Fresh air, pine forests and starlit skies....

And yes, it can snow.  Here's a medium dusting-- maybe 12 inches.  Once we received five (5) feet!

But the log-burning kiva fireplace provides both warmth and atmosphere.

See, we told you it can snow.

The roof (tarp) collasped before we could get it cleaned off.

Cookie is in 'seventh heaven' when she can make tunnels.

Getting the snow off the deck can take some time.

All help is appreciated.  We haven't been successful in teaching the dog how to run a shovel - yet.  Maybe next year.

This was the five footer.  The snow has packed down so it doesn't appear a full 60 inches.  No, we don't live just south of Fairbanks, Alaska!
