THE PURSUIT OF HOLINESS - A review of the bookTransforming Grace - A review of the bookTHE DISCIPLINE OF GRACE - A review of the bookFounded in 1934 by Dawson Trotman, The Navigators were organized to foster Christian fellowship, witnessing, bible study, and Scripture memorization with a focus toward military servicemen. With its '92-'93 sponsership of Richard Foster and William Vaswig's mystic church renewal movement know as RENOVARÉ (ren-o-var-ay) one must wonder what is going through Dawson's mind as he views the scene from heaven. At the other end of the spectrum, Jerry Bridges, former Vice President of Corporate Affairs, staff member with The Navigators Community Ministries Group sets the organization's standard for Christian life doctrine. Each of Jerry Bridges books are presentations in Covenant theology and Puritanism. "Covenant theology know nothing of grace for growth! It stops short of total grace, and is in the constant struggle of self-discipline. As for justification, it adds Lordship; as for assurance, it demands perseverance to the very end; as for sanctification, it adds devices and disciplines in an effort to conquer sin and produce righteousness." |
