Welcome

Our vision for MHBF is a small meeting for those who love the Lord Jesus Christ

and desire to know Him more deeply.  We are open to time and place for gathering,

so email us and tell us something about yourself and what the Lord has laid upon your heart.

What is "Sovereign Grace"?

"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--not by works, so that no one can boast." Ephesians 2:8,9.  "Salvation comes from the Lord." Jonah 2:9.

For those who have been deeply convicted of their "lost" condition or who are adequately familiar with Scripture, they know in their hearts and read in the Word, that God is the only true Sovereign.  We humbly acknowledge that left to ourselves and our fictional 'free will', we would all surely perish.

By His sovereign working and our faith, we are "born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever" (1 Peter 1:23).  For a detailed explanation of the new birth, read THE NEW BIRTH EXPLAINED.

What is "Dispensational"?

God has one purpose: to glorify Himself in Christ.  This involves glory in two spheres, the earthly and the heavenly, Israel and the Church (Ephesians 1:3-10).  A 'dispensation' is an administration of God's activity upon the earth.  Thus, a dispensational approach to understanding the Bible recognizes these administrations, together with other vital distinctions found in Scripture.  To ignore things which differ, produces confusion.

Have you ever picked up a Bible, started reading, but soon became bogged down in seemingly non-relevant details?  If so, you are not alone.  The Bible is comprised of 66 books, the majority written to the Jewish nation of Israel.  While these portions of God's Word are both instructive and valuable, we should first focus on those portions of Scripture which were written on our behalf.

"The thirteen Epistles of Paul (Romans to Philemon) form a distinct body of truth; and this realm of truth is about us, the Church, the Body and Bride of Christ, as no other Scriptures are.  And the Apostle Paul is God the Father's special messenger to us."

"Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth" 2 Timothy 2:15.

What does "Non-charismatic" mean?

The word "charismatic" comes from the Greek word "charis" which is typically translated "grace" in English.  However, today's meaning of the word "charismatic" commonly denotes the display of 1st Century apostolic 'sign gifts and wonders'.  While we are grace-oriented believers, we firmly believe that these so-called manifestations of 'sign gifts and wonders' ceased nearly two thousand years ago and that the modern-day phenomena is spurious--a serious doctrinal and spiritual aberration.
